Maire Byrne is a native Southern Californian who has worked in many exciting kitchens across the country. She graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and went on to work at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, The Ajax Tavern in Aspen, and Aqua in San Francisco.

In 2004 Maire returned to Los Angeles and launched her own catering company, Thyme Catering. Since then she has expanded the company, and opened Thyme Café & Market in October 2009.

Maire attributes her love of cooking to growing up in a large family where great food and family gatherings were frequent!  Her mother is a wonderful cook and the two can often be found together in the kitchen.  Her passion made her first post-college job at a large catering company in Pasadena a natural choice and she has never looked back! Some of her favorite foods include a beautifully braised stew, a colorful summer salad, and a great chocolate chip cookie warm out of the oven!
